1953 was the first year Corvette was produced. There were a total of 300 Corvettes produced this year, which was the least amount ever produced. All 1953 Corvettes were equipped with a 150 horsepower "Blue Flame 6 cylinder engine". The chrome grill of the 1953 Corvette had 13 teeth. In 1953 Susan Coleman, age 16, became the first civilian to drive a Corvette.
The first Corvette rolled off the assembly line on June 30, 1953 at Flint.
The 1961 Corvette had the first engine to produce over 300 horsepower, the
Fuel injected 283 (RPO 354) which produced 315 horsepower.
